There are millions of things I want to talk about on here but I’m going to start off with one of my most asked questions.. ‘what do I do to keep my skin healthy?’. Well, honestly… I wouldn’t say I did anything special? I like to keep it as easy as possible and not too time consuming.
One of the most important things, and I say this to everyone, is to keep yourself hydrated and never leave your makeup up on when you go to bed. This is key in having a good complexion. I’m not saying drinking lots is the answer to all your problems but it’s a good start. After all, over half of your body is made up of water so its bound to help something even if it’s not your skin, right?
So before I put any makeup on my face I always, always spray some of my Lush toner water, Eau Roma Water, onto a cotton pad and wipe all over my face. It’s so refreshing and really makes your skin feel awake. It contains rose water which helps reduce redness in the skin, it’s just amazing!
After that, I go straight in with my moisturiser, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. I’ve been using this cream since just before Christmas every single morning and I can honestly say it’s the best cream I’ve ever used. It absorbs so fast into the skin and gives me the right amount of moisture to keep my skin feeling peachy. It’s also the perfect moisturiser for under foundation, it’s not to oily or thick meaning your makeup doesn’t slip and slide around your face throughout the day. I can’t stand anything that’s too greasy on my skin.
After I’ve done that I go in with my Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I literally just get the tiniest amount, warm it up between my fingers and then just dab under my eyes right round and up to my temples. This stuff is my life saver and has reduced the darkness under my eyes massively! I got both of these products from House of Fraser but you can buy these online from Debenhams or directly from the Kiehl’s website. I’m sure there’s loads of other places you can buy these from but these are just a couple I’ve found from doing a quick Google search.
So this all seems like a lot of work before applying my daily makeup but realistically, it takes me around 2 or 3 minutes each morning. Really not long at all!
Time to take it all off again… so here goes my nighttime routine…
Every night I always use my Johnson’s, Makeup Be Gone face wipes. This gets the majority of my makeup off and even my waterproof mascara! I then use my Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing water. This stuff is great to remove any of the stubborn eyeliner that’s left over after using the wipes. I don’t always do this step, it depends how much makeup I’ve had on that day. It’s great if you’ve had false eyelashes on and liquid eyeliner.
Once I’ve got rid of all the makeup, I then use the Biore facial cleanser. I swap and change between 2 different types, the first one being the Charcoal Cleanser and the other being the Baking Soda Pore Cleanser. I leave both of these on for about a minute and then rinse off under the shower. All of these were purchased at Boots.
Soon as I’m out of the shower I then use my toner water again just to remove any excess cleanser and then apply my new favourite night cream for both my face and eyes. You wouldn’t believe it but it’s from Aldi and it’s actually one of the best night creams I’ve ever used. It’s the Lacura Midnight Power Cream and the Midnight Power Eye Gel. Both cost me £3.99! I found that a lot of night creams were too heavy for my skin and when I woke up, I’d still have a greasy layer on my face… not attractive! This stuff soaks in quite fast but still gives you the amount of moisture you need and would expect from other night creams. It’s also anti ageing which is a bonus. I also pop a layer of Vaseline on my lips every night before bed, this helps just keep your lips smooth and keeps them from getting chapped.
Once a week I go in with an exfoliator, St. Ives, Invigorating Apricot Scrub. It’s fantastic and really removes all the dead skin cells leaving you with the smoothest skin ever.
Just to avoid getting dry skin after this process I use the MAC Essential Oils. This can also be used as a primer but I love it on my skin after exfoliating. It also smells incredible and makes your skin glow, definitely worth purchasing!
So this all seems like a lot of work, especially now I’ve written it all down. Even I was wondering when I would get to the end! But, I’m being 100% honest and letting you all know how I look after my skin. This might not work for everyone, in fact it probably won’t, but this is the perfect routine for my skin. I know I said at the beginning of this that I don’t like it too time consuming and this sounds like it could take ages, but it really doesn’t take much time at all.
